5-16-24   THOUGHTS

Our reading this morning is short, powerfully singular, and absolutely necessary for each of us.  It’s an attitude adjustment day!  Parallel themes are humility, submission, and the crucifixion of the self!  Becoming as children allows us to love more fully, more innocently and with greater focus!  Guile (look the word up) has no place in the lives of God lovers!  Selfishness is unbecoming!   Deut 6:4-5   "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!  5  "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  Our life’s value lies in giving, not receiving!   Picture the sweet scene in verse 16.  We must greet the world this way!

Mark 10:13-16     And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. 14  But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15  "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God
like a child will not enter it at all." 16  And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.

My Prayer:
Father, please remove all guile and selfishness from us.  Give us a Godly simplicity as we approach life and our world.  May we be pure in motive and singular in purpose.  Make our ALL more powerful, O God.  In a humble, non-threatening way, help us teach this world about Jesus.  Empower us with boldness to lovingly engage the souls we meet with the good news of Jesus.  Help us to be good children, Father.   In the name of Jesus,    Amen.
